Plant Trainee

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Understand and effectively carry out written procedures
• Ability to work overtime when required
• Basic computer & math skills
• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Continuous improvement oriented

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

• Frequent walking, standing, climbing, heavy lifting and carrying, bending, kneeling and reaching
• Work around machinery with moving parts
• Typically work in Plant and have exposure to hot/cold temperatures, dust and excessive noises

Responsibilities:

General Responsibilities:

• Seek exceptional product quality and timely completion of work
• Foster good communication amongst fellow co-workers
• Learn proper and safe use of plant equipment and machines
• Keep clean work area and return all tools and other items to designated areas daily
• Receive and complete work orders and place paperwork in proper bins
• Learn Time Tracking Software to maintain accurate labor and material records
• Follow timely production start, stop, and break times
• Learn procedures for receiving, picking, and returning materials on computer
• Accountable for safety of self and others
• Learn and follow all company procedures
• Follow all company policies as outlined in employee handbook

Job Specific Responsibilities:

• Training rotation in different departments
• Learn how to use a variety of hand tools, as required, and how to operate a forklift
• Learn metric/inch conversions and how to calculate board feet
• Learn about different materials and fastener types
• Learn woodworking terminology and how to read drawings
• Learn how to build drawer and cabinet boxes
• Learn how to properly sand
• Learn to operate a Table Saw
• Empty various waste bins, scrap bins and dust collectors
• Assist all department as needed
• Perform other duties, including working in other areas as required, to meet the mission and goals of the company
